Microscope Morning

This summer, we have tried to have an electronics free summer, for the most part.  I wanted the kids to be involved in something other than playing video games and watching TV all summer. 

One day, as Allen was trying to figure out what to do, he asked if he could get out the microscope.  He really loves science, and figuring out how everything works.  He and Makenzie had a fun morning checking out the ready made slides that came with the microscope, and making some of their own.

And one of my favorite things about this day-

I finally got a REAL smile out of Makenzie.  She was looking at the pictures of herself, and she realized she looks unnatural when she does her little half smile, so she decided to just be herself and gave up on the posed face she tries to do when I take a picture of her.  I love it!
