Today, Allen was sent to a time out for teasing Michael. Michael also was put into time out for whining. Since they were both in a time out in the same room, I decided to add some extra rules to maintain order, and- let's be honest- to make it especially painful. The boys got an extra minute added every time they talked. Because Allen is older, his time out lasted several minutes longer than Michael's. We had to add minutes several times at the beginning of the time out, until Allen realized we were serious. He finally quieted down and spent about 10 minutes sitting in complete silence. When he had about a minute and a half left on his time out, he yelled out "barium, cobalt, Einstein, kool-aid!" (From the movie Meet the Robinsons) As my husband added an extra minute, Allen muttered under his breath, "Totally worth it!"
Hubby tried to maintain his composure, and walked over to me and let me know. We both laughed heartily but silently trying to shield ourselves behind the computer.
(Sorry to those of you who are reading this for the second time. I posted earlier on facebook, but several of my family members are not on facebook.)

"Totally worth it." That's awesome! He's got such spunk.
